Baked Mooncake with Mandarin Peel Red Bean Paste 陈皮红豆沙烤皮月饼 (中英加图对照食谱)


After I tried Kee Wah's (Hong Kong bakery) mini Eu Yan Sang red bean paste mooncake with mandarin peel, I fell in love with it immediately! I tried to replicate it few days ago and am quite happy with my new experiment! 

最近吃过香港奇华饼家的余仁生陈皮红豆沙月饼就喜欢上它了!前几天在家里摸索做了出来,对自己的新实验还蛮满意的!

Easy Salted Egg Yolk Cookies (3) 简易咸蛋黄奶油酥饼 (中英加图对照食谱)




Have you tried baking with my Easy Salted Egg Yolk Cookies recipes which I shared two weeks ago? Many have jumped on the bandwagon and baked the cookies successfully and given positive feedback about it! This week I am in an experimental mood and have used the Feng He Salted Egg Yolk Paste to bake the 4-ingredients Salted Egg Yolk cookies. The paste is really convenient to use as you need not prepare the salted egg yolk from scratch. The cookies turned out to be rather fragrant as the paste has tiny pieces of curry leaves in it. I did not remove the curry leaves from the paste when mixed with the other 3 ingredients as it is edible and packed with numerous nutrients which is good for us. It's health benefits include helping with digestion, protecting our liver from damage, maintaining blood sugar level, accelerating hair growth etc.

Easy Salted Egg Yolk Cookies (1) 简易咸蛋黄奶油酥饼 (中英加图对照食谱)



I have some leftover salted eggs from making mooncakes and decided to use it for making salted egg yolk cookies. I experimented and came up with this 4 ingredients cookie dough, an easy and fuss free recipe which does not require the use of any electric mixer or chilling of dough before use. My super critical hubby sang praises after eating it and commented that it's the nicest salted egg yolk cookies he has ever eaten! These cookies are so addictive that you can't stop eating at one! 


做完中秋月饼还剩一些咸蛋,就蒸了咸蛋黄拿来做奶油饼干。对自己的新实验很满意,只用了四种食材做出饼干面团。食谱简单,无需用电动搅拌器也无需冷藏面团。挑剔的老公吃了赞很香,还说这是他吃过最好吃的咸蛋黄酥饼喔!真的,吃一口就会上瘾,一口接一口,停不下来!

Easy Salted Egg Yolk Cookies (2) 简易咸蛋黄奶油酥饼 (中英加图对照食谱)



This is a second salted egg yolk recipe which I tried shortly after experimenting with my own 4 ingredients salted egg yolk cookie recipe which is easy and fuss-free as there is no need to use electric mixer or chill the dough before use. The method here is slightly different, I have used pure salted egg yolk powder instead of cooked salted egg yolks. The pure salted egg yolk powder is really convenient to use as there is no need to wash away the thick layer of salted charcoal paste surrounding the egg shell, neither is egg separation, cooking/steaming and mashing of cooked egg yolks required. 

这是第二次做的咸蛋黄奶油酥饼,做法跟前天做的稍微不同,但一样只需用四种食材就能做出饼干面团,无需用电动搅拌器也无需冷藏面团。这次用了咸蛋黄粉,用起来很方便,无需洗去咸蛋壳外那层厚厚的盐腌炭糊,不用分开蛋黄和蛋白,也无需蒸煮或压碎熟咸蛋黄,容易许多!

In my humble opinion, this cookie tastes just as nice as the one using cooked salted egg yolks and it has a crunchier texture which my son likes. If you have the time to try both recipes, do let me know your preference. :)

Non-Bake Cendol Cheesecake 免烤煎蕊芝士蛋糕 (中英加图对照食谱)




My hubby is a great fan of Chendol. Thus I have experimented and created this non-bake Chendol cheesecake to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary last Friday. Glad it is well received! 

孩子的爸好喜欢吃煎蕊(chendol),我就摸索自创了这免烤煎蕊芝士蛋糕来庆祝上星期五的16结婚周年!好喜欢这美味又简易的蛋糕,因为不需要用到烤箱或电动搅拌器喔!

Tangzhong Wholemeal Buns- Easter Ducklings 汤种全麦小餐包- 小鸭造型 (中英加图对照食谱)

I was in a creative mood and inspired to create some chick buns but it ended up looking more like ducklings instead...lol! It's amusing looking at the batch of ducklings after it has 'hatched' out of the 'incubator'. I was just thinking that it is too cute to be eaten when my little boy came over, took one and bite off the 'duckling head' and commented, "Hmm...yummy!" I had a good laugh! 

心血来潮想创造有趣的造型面包,原本打算做小鸡造型的, 做出来却比较像小鸭。。。呵呵!看着这些‘孵化’的小鸭子们逗得我好开心,心想这么可爱怎么舍得吃呢?这时,我家的小朋友走了过来,拿起一个,把整个"鸭头"咬掉,说:“好好食噢!” 笑到我。。。

Milo Ferrero Rocher Swiss Roll 美禄金沙巧克力卷 (中英加图对照食谱)




Last week was a hectic week for me, visiting the hospital almost everyday! (you will know why if you have read my last post.) I am glad that the week ended well with good celebration of the mid-autumn festival with the extended family. 

To support my blogger friend, Zoe of Bake for Happy Kids, who is the host of this month Little Thumbs Up - Milo theme, I have actually come up with this Milo swiss roll recipe two weeks back but have no time to blog about it until now. 

I love Milo since young especially the Australian recipe which is tastier and more fragrant. Do you know how I like to enjoy my Milo? I usually put a few heaps of Milo powder in my glass of fresh milk, give it a slight stir before scooping up the clumps of Milo to eat, it's really shiok! ('Shiok' is a common slang word used in Singapore and Malaysia to express happiness, strong pleasure or tingling taste buds with regards of food)  

AsI have a box of Ferror Rocher chocolate sitting in the fridge, I decided to use it for the swiss roll fillings. I am delighted that the crushed hazelnuts, chocolate and wafer cream fillings turned out to be super delicious and it blended so well with the Milo swiss roll! My fussy hubby and kids gave a big thumbs up for this new creation. :) 

I have also used organic extra virgin coconut oil in this recipe and here's sharing the health benefits of it.

Matcha & Beetroot Butter Cake for my 15th Wedding Anniversary 抹茶与甜菜根奶油蛋糕庆祝水晶婚 (中英食谱)





I was cracking my brain hard again....thinking what cake to bake for my 15th crystal wedding anniversary. Last year, I created the 'Non-Bake Rose cheesecake' and it was well received by hubby as well as many readers who have tried the recipe.  You might think why is it so difficult to decide what to bake, I could have just decided on a sponge cake and decorated with loads of whipping cream. Well...my hubby dislikes cakes with whipping cream and he is not one who can be pleases easily. (oops...Shhhh! ) Thus, I have to come up with a plain, yet pretty and delicious cake to please both his eyes and palate....haha! After some thoughts, I decided to adapt from my super moist 'Almond Butter Cake' and baked this super healthy, all natural and delicious Matcha Beetroot Butter Cake the night before the special occasion on 27 May. 

Last Wednesday morning, I showed him the cake and he said, "Interesting!". I cut a slice for him, he took a bite and said, "Hmm...taste good!" As I mentioned in my previous post, my hubby isn't one who praises easily too, so if he says good, it must be so! ;p 



We had a nice dinner celebration that night and received this complimentary chocolate fudge cake. :)

Melt-In-Mouth Oreo Chocolate Chip German Cookies​ ​ 入口即化奥利奥巧克力豆德国酥饼 (中英食谱教程)



How's your Lunar New Year so far?  I have a great time spent with family visiting relatives and close friends during the first 4 days of Chinese New Year (CNY). We had a long weekend to celebrate this year as the first and second day of the Lunar New Year fell on Thursday (19 Feb) and Friday (20 Feb). It was great catching up with one another over sumptuous meals and CNY goodies. 

The CNY lasts for 15 days and we've got another week before it ends but my homebaked goodies are already running low in stock. (Click here to check out my CNY recipes) Today, I created another flavour of the melt-in-the-mouth German cookies since my family just can't get enough of it. Here's sharing another great flavour which you MUST try, I guarantee you will love it just as much as my other sweet and savoury ones!

Racoon cut-out Cookies - Valentine's Special 浣熊造型饼干- 情人节特定 (中英食谱教程)




Two weeks ago, my blogger friend, Fion invited me to join in the fun of posting Valentine's cookie together with a few other bloggers on Valentine's Day. Here's sharing these Racoon cookies which I have baked specially for my dear hubby. The racoon holds a special meaning for me as the first gift I received from my other half during our first date was a stuff toy racoon. (you'll see it on the left in the photo below) Hope these racoon cookies will bring him fond memories of our courtship days.

Cheesy Pineapple Tarts - Goat shaped 芝士凤梨酥- 山羊造型 (中英食谱教程)



Just one more week to the Lunar New Year and we will be welcoming the Goat Year. I have seen many bakers baking the lovable sheep cookies but I wanted to do something different. So, I put on my thinking cap and ponder on how to transform my round pineapple tarts into a goat shape. Finally, I work out something this afternoon and here's sharing with you my new creation of a goat pineapple tart. Hope you like it!

Pineapple Prosperity Bak Kwa 凤梨(旺来)肉干 (中英食谱教程)



Three weeks ago, my good friend Lois whatsapp me and told me that I am on news...what? on news? She asked me to quickly get a copy of WanBao newspaper that Saturday night as Baking Taitai was mentioned about her homemade bak kwa in a Chinese New Year Bak Kwa article. What a pleasant surprise! 

三个星期前的周六晚,好友Lois写短讯给我,告诉我,我上新闻了!叫我赶快去买份晚报看一看。原来‘Baking Taitai' 的自制肉干在一篇农历新年肉干的报道上有被提到,真的是一个意外惊喜!

Baking Taitai's 50 mins Amazing Pumpkin Bread 烘焙太太的50分钟神奇南瓜面包 (中英食谱)


This is my last pumpkin post of the month. In support of the LTU October pumpkin event, I have the opportunity to try out these pumpkin recipes - Pumpkin Tofu Cheesecake Jar, Pumpkin Ondeh Ondeh and Pumpkin Hokkaido Chiffon cupcakes for the past few weeks. Today I am going to share with you my latest successful experiment of this 50 minutes Amazing pumpkin buns. About half a year ago, when I discovered the 40 minutes bun recipe, I thought it was really amazing as you can churn bread out in such a short time. However, this 40 minutes bread recipe uses too much yeast and those who have tried find the texture to be dense and sticky by the next day. My experiment 2 days ago proved to be a champion over the 40 mins bread recipe as I have used the super food pumpkin to recreate a new quick bread recipe which uses much less yeast and is healthier too. This quick bread recipe takes all in all less than an hour to churn out homemade bread compared to normal bread making which requires more than 3 hours, amazing isn't it? 

这是本月的最后一个南瓜食谱。为了支持‘小拇指说好’的十月南瓜活动,我有机会尝试了这些南瓜食谱 - 南瓜豆腐芝士蛋糕瓶南瓜椰丝球南瓜北海道戚风小蛋糕。今天,我要与大家分享最近试验成功的50分钟神奇南瓜面包。大约半年前,我第一次尝试了40分钟面包食谱就觉得非常神奇了,因为在这么短的时间就可以把面包做出来。不过,这40分钟面包用的酵母也实在太多了,让许多人无法接受。而且面包放到隔天,咬下去还会粘牙呢!前两天的成功试验跟40分钟面包食谱比起来健康许多!除了用南瓜,酵母也大大的减少,面包的质感也有进步,不会粘牙。大家快来试一试吧!

Pumpkin Tofu Cheesecake Jar 南瓜豆腐芝士蛋糕瓶 (中英食谱视频教程)


It has been more than a week since I started using Tovolo tools in my baking and cooking. Its bright lovely colours have not only brighten up my kitchen and my mood, it has also fascinated my children with its fun and innovative designs. When I was baking the black bottom cupcakes using the Tovolo products for the first time, my little boy was so keen to help. He enjoyed using the cupcake pen and cupcake scoop to dispense the batter into the cupcake moulds as it was really easy for him to handle. Two days later, when I made the Oreo Cream Cheese cupcakes, my girl was attracted to the Tovolo tools and offer to help too. My new Tovolo tools have caused great fun bonding time with my kids as they are more interested to get involve in the food preparation. :)

Gula Melaka Magic Custard Cake 马六甲椰糖魔术卡士达蛋糕 (中英食谱教程)




I hosted my third guest blogger Magic Custard Cake (MCC) and German Butter Cookies workshop two days ago. As usual, I will bake the original and one other flavoured magic custard cake for my participants to sample to have an appreciation of the finished product before they attempt to bake one. I was adventurous and wanted to try a new flavour which no one has tried before, hence the birth of the Gula Melaka magic custard cake. Gula Melaka is dark palm sugar made from the sap of a Palmyra palm and has its own distinct taste. It is mainly used in the local desserts and cakes of the Southeast Asian region.

In this recipe, I have replaced all the icing sugar with gula melaka and the method is slightly different from the original recipe. The result is a flavourful and fragrance cake. My hubby commented that it is the best flavour among all the magic custard cakes I have made so far. I am on cloud nine as I could achieved the three magical layers after trying my own ways of incorporating the gula melaka into the cake batter. My least favourite dense kueh bottom is also just a thin layer, hooray!!! :D =D>

很荣幸第三次被LessonsGoWhere邀请担任部落格嘉宾厨师。我在上课时,都会先让我的学生们尝试原味和另一种口味的魔术卡士达蛋糕。 前两课,我做了抹茶和巧克力口味的。这次,我选择没人做过的马六甲椰糖口味,老公说这是我做过以来最好吃的口味。来上课的姐妹们也说比原味的好吃多了!很高兴用了自己的做法加入马六甲椰糖,还能成功做出三层不同质感的魔术卡士达蛋糕,连我不是很喜欢的粿底层还是薄薄的喔! :p
