When I cook prawn dishes, I will usually get Tiger prawns or Vannamei prawns. This is my first time trying out Red legged prawns (红脚虾) which I’ve ordered from Whole Fish. Red legged prawns are wild caught and not farmed like Tiger prawns and Vannamei prawns. It has a thinner shell and the flesh is crunchy and sweet.
As I’m craving for some BBQ prawns, I’ve grilled it using my Smokeless BBQ Grill at home.
Here’s sharing my recipe with you:
Easy Grilled Prawns
Ingredients:
1 pack 500g frozen red legged prawns L/XL from wholefish, thawed
30ml olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
2 chillies, finely chopped
handful of mint leaves, finely chopped
40g shredded cheddar cheese
40g shredded mozzarella cheese
Methods: (Refer to cooking video HERE)
1. Wash the prawns, trim off the antennae and flagella. Use scissors/sharp knife, de-vein the prawn by cutting about halfway through the prawn from its head to its tail on the back.
3. Arrange the prawns (shell side up) on the grill pan. Start cooking at 200°C for 3 mins before turning over.
4. Use a small spoon to put the mixture onto the split back of the prawns.
